Basic Horse Care and Horse Handling: feeding, leading and turnout, basic health check, grooming; feed prep, water top up, safety check, blanket cleaning
Horse Health and Wellness Care: hand walking, lunging, free lunging, round pen work, ground work, stretches, basic acupressure, basic massage, quality time/ company keeping
Additional Care: Animal Communication, energy work, “Conscious Grooming”

Services not offered:

Riding your horse or performance training your horse. That is out of my scope of practice as I am not a professional horse rider or trainer, and have no certification in those fields.

Medical services beyond First Aid 1 and Basic Equine Emergency First Aid as I am not a licensed medical professional.

Residential cleaning.

Dog walking.

House sitting. I am a permanent caretaker at a horse farm in Cedar, and prefer to stay there at night. (Rare exceptions can be made as a "last resort" type thing if your arrangements fall through.)

RATES
1-3 HORSES
$25/h, minimum of 2 hours per visit + mileage (between $0.25 and $0.40/km depending on current gas prices)
$170/day for full day visit (up to 8 hours) + mileage (between $0.25 and $0.40/km depending on current gas prices)
3 hrs chores, 2 hrs feedings, 3 hrs horse care (grooming, exercising, stretching, TLC, communication)
4-5 HORSES
$30/hr, minimum of 2.5 hours per visit + mileage (between $0.25 and $0.40/km depending on current gas prices)
$200/day for full day visit (up to 8 hours) + mileage (between $0.25 and $0.40/km depending on current gas prices)
3 hrs chores, 2 hrs feedings, 3 hrs horse care (grooming, exercising, stretching, TLC, communication)
If a split day (two separate visits) is preferred instead of 8 hours, an additional return trip mileage applies.

$300/day for overnight stay (up to 8 hrs of active work + nighttime check in) + mileage ($.30/km) (This rate reflects my preference to NOT overnight on site. I only provide this service in rare exceptions.)
EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHY
$200/90min session + up to 10 finished photographs.
EXPERIENCE
Barn Manager - Cowichan Therapeutic Riding Association, Duncan (2022)
A position responsible for the barn operations and property maintenance at a high paced non-profit facility. Example of duties:
-
Leading a team of barn staff and volunteers, ensuring proper care of 15 therapy horses
-
Maintaining databases of horse health records, tack and equipment, and barn projects
-
Coordinating the preparation of horses for their respective lessons - grooming, tacking, turning out etc.

Creating and monitoring feeding schedules and turn out
-
Scheduling and supervising vet and farrier visits, supply and feed deliveries, light and heavy duty equipment maintenance


Assistant Property Manager - Of The Sun Sanctuary, Cedar (2019 - present)
A live-on-site arrangement with a private owner of a 23 acre nature sanctuary and a horse farm.

Looking after, training and working with three horses; riding, ground work, therapy sessions

Providing light duty maintenance of the land and structures: manure pickup, harrowing, trail and forest maintenance, firewood, keeping the barn and stalls in order, barn chores, tack maintenance, etc.

Facilitating volunteer opportunities, work exchanges and farm visits

Bringing and working with clients for Medicine Horse sessions

Horse Handler - Chiron Holistics, Coombs (2015 - present)
Volunteering at an Equine Assisted Healing facility which includes a large property and a herd of Medicine Horses

Working with each of the six horses individually to practice Equine Facilitated Healing (both alone and with volunteer clients)
